Yes, finish it - should be good!
I know the original painting, as I expect we all do: it's the seriousness with which the reverend gentleman pursues his skating that makes the picture so pleasing. And useful, if for any reason you wanted to know how clergymen dressed at the time - grist to the mill of costume designers for period plays etc.
