This is an underpainting. I've signed up with Marion Dutton to learn the more traditional wet on dry technique rather than 'alla prima'. This is not a patch on her underpainting which I would be happy to have on my wall. But, I'm learning and I don't think it's too shabby, and certainly a reasonable foundation for blocking in.

Well done you Rod.    I was lucky enough to do some African art Safaris with Mart Ann Bartlett and sat and eyeballed them.   Local Zoos are great as well..  this is coming on so well.

Collette Hughes on 23/07/2025 20:12:14 16" x 12" and it's far too small for my clumsy fingers, the underpainting is shifting, and it's bound for the bin.

Your lion painting is already showing great presence, especially in the eyes and mane. Sometimes bold brushstrokes bring out character more than fine detail. It reminds me of the creativity people express at Slota casino, where artistic themes often influence design. Keep pushing with confidence—the power in your work is shining through beautifully.
