This is a tutorial from the lovely Marion Dutton. I did the underpainting, ages ago, but at least I knew it was dry LoL.  So got to the end of a trying fortnight and after putting the cat off for days finally managed the first colour layer. The lighter dark body fur bottom right is all wrong, but I was getting tired. I'll sort it next time. The background was just me using excess paint up, but it's not too shabby IMO.
Good point there: never go on painting when you're tired - you WILL go wrong; I did it once to meet a deadline (I don't have those any more: good!) and it turned to complete horror in front of me;   I got SO furious with myself; but - if you can't play chess when you're tired, and I certainly can't, you can't paint either; and what's worse, it's no pleasure.   My worst stuff is always the same: either I just didn't want to paint it, or I got tired while painting it and hadn't the brains to stop.
Thanks for looking Robert. I suppose that's the advantage of painting in layers - one can always o back and sort it. I am delighted to have found Marion Dutton. She is an excellent teacher and answers all the 6 Honest Serving Men before you start. I feel I have improved tremendously with her guidance even after a few weeks. It makes you feel good when things start going right!
