Somewhat apprehensive as to how this will go down with members...Not a Social Network but with the elements of one. Basically, to make contact with like-minded friends/members...What happens to artists who do not paint regularly (as I do not at present,) for various reasons? Why not? What is holding you back? Has the muse deserted you? Has the art scene become too challenging/confusing? Losing confidence? Etcetera, Etcetera. It's just the germ of an idea, actually, which may not sprout. I am well aware that I have not been particularly supportive of the Forum recently, again for a number of on-going reasons, so do feel a bit hypocritical posing this. Dare I simply say that it feels like a nice idea? I would love to hear your views.
I am in the middle of acrylic painting of a street scene of Broughty Ferry. I have AMD so i sometimes see double. When this happens after a long session I have to stop. I reckon this painting will take about two weeks of evening sessions as i am quite busy with other things like after lunch naps , washing the dishes , vacuuming, reading and just living.Oh and I like to keep in touch with my friends on the forum. You have awakened a sleeping giant ( as that Jap admiral said after Pearl Harbour )Ruth and it will be interesting...Syd
Getting the time,in between family life and work, but am managing roughly 3 paintings per week, ranging from 36x24 to 7x5, mostly in acrylic, a medium I prefer for the speed it allows to paint in. Making time is not that difficult, it's a matter of self discipline. I try to paint or sketch everyday, and inspiration or ideas are never a problem, I find inspiration all around me. I just wish my standard was better, and not having to figure out everything the hard way ,through trial and error, but am determined to get there, and will.
Hi Ruth Have you had a look at the SAA, site you might find what you are looking for, there. (I'm not saying you wont find what your looking for right here though.) Artists are actively looking for arty friends all over the country, whether for an arty conversation or just daily chats, pen - pals. and meet - ups at Art venue - NEC, etc. I hope this helps. Kind Regards Carol
I'm glad to hear you have a friend to chat to about similar interests, as they say 'Its good to talk' This is a wonderful service, by the sound of it, Ruth. It takes a while to be comfortable chatting to strangers and at times a little awkward, but I have always maintained if you have a hobby in common, that breaks the ice, sooner. Myself I tend to avoid human contact whenever I can, but having virtual pals is just fine, whether they reply to my posts is of no concern, I'm what is termed as a 'fair weather friend' there, but only if you need help in some way. I read a small poem the other day which sums me up to a T - Quote People are like party buntings always changing I am happy when alone words to that effect :) Happy Painting, Ruth
Ruth, go back and read the other threads - insofar as this has an explanation, it's available there. No, the nspb nonsense isn't deliberately inserted by anyone posting, it's to do with the perishing internet and its oddities. What are you using to view the Forum, a desktop pc or something else? This might be the root of the problem.

I'm glad to hear you are in good hands, Ruth, I dread the day I am no longer able to get on with my life without people fussing about me, but as always aren't we so very lucky we have such wonderful facilities in this country. Glad my post has helped you :) I find if I hold my hands suspended over the key pad for too long I have the same effect letters all over the place. Ruth, I hope your life will get back to some normality soon, and I wish you all the very best with your painting. I don't have much time to spend in the forum but I do like a quick look to see what is going on. I had no Idea about the nspb thing, but I'm glad, Robert has put a finger on it, thanks, Robert.
