I have tried to make the eyes look right, believe me, but I do seem to have settled on a style. The picture is a work in progress, I'll keep improving it as it goes along. I think I need to get all the figures in so I can see it as a whole and then go back to them to finesse things. That's the plan anyway, whether or not it works remains to be seen! Peter
Good morning "He" Peter...Eye, Eye.....all very expressive though yes a tad white in my umble  opinion.   Maybe tone down the white in your finessing period with a pale ,pale blue grey. Still awaiting the appearance of French Bull doggo...could be a Poodle. 
Hi Peter  I find painting eye very difficult probably why I don’t do them very often other than when I do owls. Might be worth spending a little while looking at paintings of eyes on the net , I do this  and then paint a few to get the feel . Anyway it your painting mate and it’s how you do it , I will say your a braver man than me portraits scare me and I do a few figures as I can . Looking forward to seeing how you tackle it . PS I’m liking your recent batch of landscapes .

Presumably Peter - rather than the original artist.  Lucian's point is that Peter's eyes - well: the ones he paints - do tend to look like this; but that this may just be his style; it may be - though I doubt it.  It may also be that Peter finds painting eyes difficult - in which he's certainly in good company; if the latter is the case, then I hope he'll find criticisms helpful; if the former should be the case, well then he'll stick with the style that he's established: but may still want to think about moving on from it.   In the meantime, we await the arrival of the dog with keen anticipation.  
I've been finding all your comments very helpful and encouraging so thanks to everyone. I've moved the painting on again and hopefully the eyes now look better: The dog has appeared, or at least the outline of it: I don't consider any of the 'new' faces to be finished, I always like to go back to them with fresh eyes the following day......sorry, that's not meant to be a pun! A couple of close ups might help: They don't look very human yet! Peter

It IS difficult, Peter - well, we don't need to tell you that!  The latest shows improvement, and all you or we can do is to keep practising until we achieve something like that to which we aspire: it can take a very long time, but it's always encouraging if you can discern ways in which your work is better now than it was, say, 20 years ago: I've kept a lot of my old stuff, and am glad I did because it's given me a good set of benchmarks to measure progress.  The only thing that worries me is that I sometimes find things that look better than anything I've done recently - but it's a never-ending journey, until the Grim Reaper taps one on the shoulder and suggests there's an overdue appointment....

We'll put that off for as long as possible Robert!  I've done a bit more but I'm going to leave it for today and pick things up in the morning. That girl still looks like she's about to bite the head off a passing duck! Peter

Ha I have spotted the dog.  
Peter your doing really well mate , as said by others and you yourself know it take time to get things how you want them and then you decide to do it differently.
