I think I am nearly there with this oil on board image from a black and white photo c1930. I think I need to add people to bring it to life, what do you think. And I think it is generally too dull, how do I brighten it up?
Definitely add some people on the platform.
Yes some signs of life, definitely people, perhaps luggage and the old style luggage cart/trolley!
I like it as it is; most country stations looked exactly like this for most of the time, no trains and no one in sight.  The LNER green and cream colours are perfect - the only thing I would add is a poster board or two on the wall. Peter
I like this the station looks comfortable and friendly.  Possibly add a cat or two; a bicycle propped against the fence. Country stations often had chickens on the adjacent land.
Also most old stations had flower beds carefully tended by the stationmaster, when as Peter says, he wouldn’t see a train or passengers for half a day!
A rotund stationmaster (smoking pipe) standing outside with his hands stretching his braces… as they do! A few baskets of pigeons waiting to be transported… nothing too difficult then!
Thanks guys so much for all your help
We look for to seeing the final painting David, no pressure! 😉
A lamppost on the walkway.
I like colour tone you've chosen, and the view. Shape of the trees, lovely details around. As other mentioned, some sort of focal point could compliment the whole art for sure. From my point of view it doesn't matter what ...  Just something to attract the viewer, making him hang up for a moment while guiding his eyes around your beautiful art...
