I’ve got a bit lost with this, I intended to paint both on the same page but the bottom one crashed into the top one while I wasn’t looking so I have tried to do something a bit arty but I don’t think it’s working. I’ve yet to finalise the ponies but looking for ideas with the background. Or start again? .
I have some photos of Dartmoor ponies, which are about the same height.  Would you like me to send you some to help with the composition or give you some ideas?

Thanks Linda, I do have more photos of these two to work with, my idea was to do too separate pics as they look the same but the top one is wild and they are very pleased with it, the bottom one is broken, hence the clip and more docile look, problem for me is I think they needed to be further apart. I could cut the card in half but was trying to blend together but keep them separate if that makes sense, but I’m not sure it’s working.
Two —- grrrrr
How about taking the rail out of the picture as thats what you look at first and blend the green and yellow into the bottom picture
Thanks for looking Jane, I think you might be right, I have already removed some of it so it doesn’t cut the picture in half, I’ll have another look st it tomorrow in the better light. This is where I am up to at the moment...
coming along nicely, I think if you were to remove the part above the other pony and just fade the end of the rail out it would make such a difference. Hope you don't mind me commenting on your picture. I always find that I miss things and my OH points them out to me.  (Fresh eyes!!)
Thanks Jane, I’m thinking exactly the same, you’ve been a real help! Fresh eyes, I knew I wasn’t happy with it and my OH just said ‘not one of your best’😮
I think I will leave it at this....
Katy, with just a few tweaks you have ended up with something really good! You've pushed forward the lower pony and he's now the focus ( by a whisker). Wonderful.
It looks lovely Katy. Good job.
Thank you Marjorie and Denise for your comments and thanks to Jane for helping me sort this out.
