Early stages, unusual proportions (for me)

This is a very early stage of an acrylic on canvas, in a proportion I've rarely, if ever, used before. Not particularly seeking comment on it, but if you'd like to, fill your boots - this is just the first application of colour, the drawing, so far as there was any, achieved with just the brush from a sketch. Much work still to do.

I love this panoramic format, it makes such a change but can of course present its own set of challenges, namely to remember not to put too much (if any) detail near the outer extremities which will drag the eye away from your focal point, but you will know that anyway.
A positive start and the greens are shaping up well and showing some rather splendid IOW contours, the far hill may benefit from toning down a shade and perhaps a bit bluer.

Ar - the most distant hill most certainly needs to be a LOT bluer - this is where the glazes come in with acrylic, plus perhaps a bit of Zinc White: it's actually worrying me a bit, because that's not so easy to do as it sounds.. But we press on! Got to get this one right, it's for a present, and I need to have finished it by the end of April or slightly earlier.

I wish I could train myself to worry less about how things are going to turn out, but every damn' time the bowels tie themselves in knots even after 50 years of mucking about with paint; it's so silly really, because if I do muck it up I can always start again, but then worry is rarely logical.
Thanks for the good wishes and yes, the eye surgery has been important - I really didn't feel at all confident about painting anything for the better part of 3 months, and one major advantage of getting the cataract sorted is that I can see colour so much better; looking at some of my better paintings (and there are others.....) I'm fairly amazed at what I've managed to do,to be quite boastful and honest at the same time.

I dont,proffess to be a know all. I work to a set of rules in a landscape , I don't put to much of one colour together ,,I let trees breath between each other .I don't have a continual set of trees of the same height ,and I separate them ,.I never have to many patches of grass all the same length,or colour.I bring everything together by a dark patch in the foreground ,, I like to see a patch of raw sienna as a sunlit area in the background ,,I like to pop something to catch the eye off centre of the painting ,I don't like to see a large tree at the edge of the painting unless it is balanced by a shadow eccetra,,,,I always try and put the dark shadows under trees or hedgerows ,I love the way Mr Wesson placed tree shadow across a road when there were no trees and a tree shadow in cloud shadow ,,,,,,,,
