Hi, This is my first time posting work in progress. This is this mornings work. I don't normally use thinner for my first layer but thought I'd try it with a britle brush and loving how easy I can cover an area and get some cool brush marks in there too! First picture is quick charcoal block in. I then went over the main lines with a umber and then had lots of fun blocking in the main shapes of colour. Unfortunately got hungry before I could get to the main focus - the daffodils.
Looking good Gary. Love that vase!
Thanks Tessa, That's currently my favourite vase - it seems like it wants to make regular appearances in my work now.  Here's the stage at the end of today. Finished the first layer and think I'm pleased. I was surprised how grey I had to go for the shadows on the daffodils!
Excellent progress. I find daffs surprisingly difficult to paint but you look like you have it sorted! I actually passed some flowering this morning along the roadside, seemed quite early to me.
Off to a great start Gary, it's looking really good. Daffs are springing up all over the place at the moment.
Very good as it is!
You’re on a roll Gary, beautiful already.
Thank you :-) Yes, it is early - my wife got these to brighten up our lounge and I have stolen them to paint! I hope to finish tomorrow so they can go back in the lounge before they start wilting. I feel like they look a bit chunky in the painting at the moment but hopefully I can give them a more delicate appearance tomorrow.

Thanks Marjorie, Yes I'm feeling a burst of creative energy this last few weeks which is great. I took voluntary severance at my part-time job before Christmas so I am now a full time painter, with 2 years to make some kind of living off it before I head back to looking for a job (if needed). This is definitely giving me incentive to stop procrastinating on my work and just create.
Good luck Gary!
