I know it's not a WIP as such, seeing as it's finished, but thought I'd post this up with some in-progress shots. This is the first painting completed in months - five to be exact. The last one knocked my creative end in somewhat, and since then I've just completely lost my mojo (I should imagine that the time of year hasn't helped). I was asked by a friend to create an A5 painting for an exhibition and silent auction in aid of Alzheimer's UK, which is a cause very dear to me, so how could I say no? I thought that I'd paint something a little different, and I've admired the work of Paul Stangroom for some time, so I went on a mission to create something along the lines of his 'windows' paintings, which I dearly love. First stages: Anth
Took a day off during the week and got some progress on the 'outside', then finished it off this morning with the help of the Lemonheads on the stereo and a couple of cans of Monster:
Completed the 'inside' this afternoon: I know it's not up to the standards of Mr. Stangroom's work, but I'm still quite pleased with it. The camera hasn't flattered it particularly as it has a lot more depth in real life. Feel the start of a new series coming on here :) Anth
Looks like you've got your mojo back Anth, I hope so anyway. I think we all get a bit like that sometimes but now think to yourself onwards and upwards. This is a delightful painting and I'm sure it will bring lots of money in for this good cause so well done!
I second that, good job.
Welcome back to the treadmill; if it's any consolation, I've had a lean few months as well but have just finished an oil (I think) - got to keep going, somehow.
Thanks all! Quite chuffed with it, and if time allows I'm going to crack on with the Ferrari I've been working on for months :)
I wondered what the foreground was going to be. Very nice colour in the walls. Can be tempting not to give them as much attention as they aren't the main subject.
Nicely done, Anthk
Thanks! Paul, I had exactly the same thought about the walls, I wanted to make them look as good as the mine workings. I hope I've achieved this.
Its fab and for such a wonderful underfunded charity. They are providing so much help to us at the moment, seeing a family member you love vanish in front of your eyes is heartbreaking. Its an evil illness that robs you of that person. 😭 On another note please put down the Monster its so bad for your heart.
Keep your chin up Kevin and keep drawing, art is a great healer. I've had the big C twice and I still feel positive, hope things go well for you and your wife.
