Thought it might be worth sharing a solution I’ve come across for keeping watercolours clean and organised. I’m a terribly messy worker and my watercolour palette invariably gets mucky very quickly, colours run into one another and it’s easy to forget what colours you’ve put out.  I found some old plastic containers meant for organising pills - they’re ideal instead of a palette - I’ve stuck a label on each section for each of my colours and only open the one I’m using - keeping the colour clean, free from runs from neighbouring colours and dust, etc.  Also, with the lids closed the paint stays wet for quite a long time.  It’s also much easier to just pick up and work from a strip when you need a colour.  I only use my palette now for mixing.  Thought this might be of interest particularly if, like me, you tend to accumulate a lot of colours!  Only problem is, I’ve run out of strips, will need to get some more.
That's an absolutely brilliant Idea, Jenny, for watercolour painters. I did a similair thing (not with the actual paints, just in regards to painting a colour key), with my acrylics, as the labels on the tubes never match the paint inside! I painted a small patch of each tube I have, and attached them to an A4 board. I was surprised that different brands of the same 'colour name' were quite different in their actual appearance, but it does make selection much easier now.
Really good idea!
Brilliant ideas, I am an extremely disorganised and messy painter.
I try to be organised but it lasts only for that one day. That's why I get oil paint on clothes( despite wearing an old shirt) and dropping my freshly loaded palette face down on the floor. My excuse is lack of space😳
