Hi all, By way of a postscript, I just want to thank all contributors for their valued advice on what has been a good thread for me, & not put others off watercolours hopefully. I accept I needed more experience before tackling that book. The pen of Erebus awakened me especially though. I know the point you were making but, hey by god, why am I bashing through all these tutorials laboriously. Artists have so many individual methods, none of them mine. They say only do the stuff that interests you personally. I'll hang onto the kit though, and do my own thing from now on. When it doesn't work I'll figure it out, or maybe ask specific questions to the forum' sages. ' ( meant respectfully ). My initial intention was to generate some banter on a learning curve I thought might help others too. Presumably what forums are all about, & as mentioned, need encouraging. If my queries seem basic, or replies intermittent, forgive me. I'm juggling this with going through redundancy at a very awkward age, so am a bit cranky, well, more than usual.... I have fond memories of Ouzo, less so of Metaxa, but seems like 'the sun is over the yard arm' just now!
