Im sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section. Do any of you have any recommendations for places to sell work online? I am listed on the Fine Art America site only at the moment appart from my facebook page. Many thanks
You are in the right place and there has been quite a lengthy discussion on this subject fairly recently. I can't remember the title but if you search back a few pages you will find it. I did contribute to it and you may find it useful.
How are you doing, carlaf, on Fine Art America? It's a crowded field, that's the trouble with all of these sites. I understand from Facebook (just a few days ago) that Affordable British Art (with whom I did once show) have completely re-designed their site, which I did find a bit hard to use in the sense that unless you paid for the highest grade of membership, your work was virtually invisible there. You might like to look it up, plus Artfinder and a few others listed in the thread to which Pat has provided the link.
I've given up with ArtFinder. I got some highj quality photos of my works. My pal who is a superb photographer ensures me they all meet the pixel requirments and sizes. At least 4 times I have tried to submit them to the website and each time they reply very tersely, same words "they don't meet the requeirement! or similar terms. I have appealed to them for an explanation but nothing comes back. So **** em
Saatchi online is the same - they accepted one of mine, which for all I know is still there in its lonely glory, but others - same camera, same specification - were deemed too small/low resolution. They did try to explain, but didn't do it well and like Derek, I gave up on the whole damn' enterprise. I think the best advice remains - find yourself a real, physical gallery: I realize that's not necessarily easy; I haven't got one at the moment, because they're all too remote (and I'm getting too lazy to chase them up) but that's where most people seem to have most success.
Yes thanks Alan
Hi again Alan, Im not doing very well Im afraid on FAA and the actually amount you make on any sale is small. Of course you could increase the amount that you want to charge but it would make the item too expensive. I am exhibiting as an "emerging artist" in a local gallery but that is only for a short period of time and as you say its a crowded field to be sure
