I have done a collage out of old comics, but I wanted to know if there was a way to fade the images or make them lighter as they are a little dark to paint over? But I still want to be able to see the comic pieces as clearly as possible. Thank you :)

Make a thin wash with water and a small amount of white acrylic paint, and paint it over the collage. If it's not right put another coat of wash over the collage. The collage may wrinkle a bit because of the water in the paint. .

I think that you may be looking for the impossible here Cloe, the best way would be to take the collage into say Photoshop and put a 60% or so tint over the lot, print it out on some decent paper and work on top with your paints, good luck.

Both good suggestions - Zinc white, diluted of course, should do it: you may have more of a problem with Titanium, which is much more opaque. Or maybe ... a couple of coats of acrylic medium, with perhaps a very small quantity of Zinc white - experiment on bits of card or paper obviously, you don't want to go trying any of these things on the actual collage until you've a good idea it will work. And actually, on the whole I think Alan's idea is probably the better way to go.
