Dear all,
I recently came across this painting by an uncle of mine which he purchased about 50 years ago. It says Sima on it, but there are quite a few Sima painters... confusing. It is painted on a type of hardboard. Anyways i am trying to help him with finding the story behind it... if anyone knows something, would be much appreciated.

There are indeed many painters with the name Sima. The only one I've found who produces expressionist paintings such as this one is Patrik Sima, a Czech painter born in 1977. I doubt that his work is of any value. even if this is an example of it. You can find him on the Saatchi online gallery, and compare what you find with your painting. The commercial values he assigns to his paintings would seem to be rather wishful thinking - I couldn't find any record of auction houses where his works have been listed.
Joseph Sima would have been a different matter, but I'd be very surprised indeed if this was one of his works.
I should have read your post more carefully - obviously not Patrik, if your uncle purchased this 50 years ago.

Thank you Robert, yes it was indeed purchased about 50 years ago in a gallery thats already closed for the last 40 years... so can't be a work of this Patrick Sima. But thank you in any case for your input.
Also the gallery where it was purchased signed in the back of the painting which indicates it is indeed from this gallery from around 1970+-.

Try Josef or Jozef Sima - his work does have some value; he died in 1971, aged 80, so the dates might work.
The photo you've shown doesn't show the whole painting, does it? If not, a more complete image might help to make some sense of it - I don't think this is one of his, and I doubt he'd have painted on hardboard, but... you never know.
