So I rather rashly agreed to do a picture of my Grandsons bearded dragon.  I would like some advice please, do I do this in watercolour/acrylic/other? Anyone on here had experience of drawing reptiles? Small preliminary sketch attached.
It’s not my go to subject, but pen or rigger brush with acrylic ink comes to mind, depending on your skill level of course. You can achieve some wonderful flowing and varied lines with a rigger. Acrylic ink has a vibrancy that would suit this subject perfectly!

Thanks for the response Alan. Not tried Acrylic ink before.  As for my skill level, well not very really.  But I will persevere as this is just the sort of challenge I like. I may post on WIP if I can get the base sketch correct.
Hi Hilary, I agree with Alan, acrylic ink would be a good choice, I have the acrylic ink brush pens, they come in lovely colours and you can blend with water, they take a little getting used to but worth it.
Hi Linda, thank you for the advice, where do you get your brush pens from if you don’t mind me asking.  Here’s my base sketch which should give me a starting point.
I got mine off Amazon, they were Newdoer, I payed about:£30 but they had about 48 pens plus 2waterpens but there are plenty to choose from, some are watercolor, but these were acrylic ink.
If t'were me - I'd use quite liquid acrylic (which might well be ink); if you use watercolour and go wrong, NOT that I'm saying you will!, it's very hard to hide the evidence.  Whereas with acrylic, you readily can.  This is a subject on which I'd use my Chromacolour paints, in pots - they'd be ideal for it: they can be diluted a long way, and have excellent covering power and glazing abilities.
Changing the subject Robert lol, but you and Sylvia mentioned a framing company a while back but I've lost the thread, can you tell me which one it was please!!
Ooh acrylic ink sounds like a lovely medium to tackle this subject in, looking forward to seeing the next stage/finished piece Hillary.

Eze-frame; there are others, but they had one of the widest ranges.  There's also Ashcraft Framing, and Woodware Workshops.
Thanks Robert, will make a note.
