I'm off till the morrow. It's beyond use D
It's been a bad day. There's a lot less right now than earlier, but I've just reported another three posts. The latest numpty is using thread titles that don't say "Watch this for nowt and watch your bank account empty out", but he/ she's still easy to spot. We really need to flick that switch in the Forum software that says "Approve first X posts". That way the numpties would post 350 spam items and we'd get to see precisely zero because they'd show up in a Moderation Queue. It makes the Forum look bad. We can't attract and retain new talent if their first sight of the Forum is three pages of "Watch football" Spam

I've emailed Dawn to alert her to the Gallery spam, and the spam post on the Blog page. I'd be happy to have a moderating queue so that at least people could avoid having to see it all, and carry on using the Forum: I don't mind deleting it, but am very conscious that I can't always move fast enough, nor keep an eye on the Forum all the time - I had a bit of a duel with one of them; he, she, or it popped new posts on even while I was deleting the others - fortunately, they tired of the game before I did. Is this happening every time there's a public holiday....? Most of the world observes Easter/Passover, but not Bank Holiday Monday - the bulk of the spamming happened on Sunday night, but as you observe there was some today, too.
Robert, I did mention earlier that Dawn is on holiday all week, so unless Deborah steps in, any spam that you can't delete will stay there for a while. Actually, the main attacks have been on the forum itself, so in your area of policing if you like.
It does seem as if it is time to "flick the switch" as Alan says. Apart from potentially putting people off what is otherwise an excellent Forum it does seem very unfair that Robert (and Dawn) should have to waste so much of their time deleting this stuff.
