I stand corrected, I did indeed get an automated e-mail alerting me to my comment. I'm sure there have been previous instances when I didn't - but then my memory is a lot less than infallible these days!

And it's a thank you from him as well Robert. I have also found the Notepad function which I'll use in future. Thankfully you never stop learning although it reminds of my old Dad (mind you I'm old now) saying that at his age there was no need to learn anything new as you'll only forget it when you die if not before!! I think I've inherited his odd-ball sense of humour - a bit scary! I must also add to the defence of Dawn who does a sterling job and is so helpful as I can testify.
With Sarah, Phil, Ellen, Rose the dentist, and the granddaughter whose name I forget.

I honestly never thought the day would come when I would be able to tell anyone anything about computing - I'm sitting here with a silly grin on my face, embracing my new-found status as Computer Nerd. I find the world divided in all sorts of ways - this is just one of them: I would be a child among philosophers on a computer forum, not knowing what on earth they were talking about. The gap between the computer expert and the layperson is sufficiently huge, however, for me to find a perch between the two. I must tell the lad who sometimes helps me with sorting out my machine - it'll quite make his day (I can hear his raucous laughter now!). Still - it comes from having done an awful lot of word-processing; and like Amanda, if I can avoid Word, I will. Come and watch me (try to) transfer files and programmes to my new computer later in the week, and you'll be a lot less impressed......
