Steve's challenge number one - get your creativity organised! To begin your 30-days make yourself a folder - either physical or on your PC - and start filling it with all the ideas for what you'd like to create this year. Add your own sketches and studies, research on other painters and painting styles you like, photographs you've always wanted to recreate on paper or canvas, maybe a Christmas card has inspired you? Add this to your folder and more - it will become the perfect go-to place when you feel you've run out of ideas! Show us the first thing to go in your folder.
I've had a rethink and will add all of the challenges to the 'how to' section. Give me a bit of time and I'll share the link on this thread then you can just add any of your challenges here and tell everyone how you got on.
OK - here's the link to the challenges on PO https://www.painters-online.co.uk/tips-techniques/top-tips/articles/steve-strodes-painting-challenge/ Use this thread to share your results!
Thanks Dawn, I started today’s late and of course didn’t read the instructions properly. Anyway, here’s my copy of a Morandi ( I won’t do my version now because I’ve done one in the past). Hope to find time to do a selfie tomorrow but I’m out all day.
I’ve also been painting every day since Jan 1st. I have looked at Steve’s challenge but will look again.

It's the first time we have tried this sort of thing as a Facebook event and it's not getting the engagement we'd hoped for (loved seeing your submissions Gary!) but never mind, I will think of other ways to share Steve's great ideas....

Possibly because some people don't do or want to do facebook.

Thank you. It was quite confusing how to post - the first time I've done a challenge like this on facebook. I wonder if instagram would be easier where people could just post on their own page and use a specific hashtag (eg #stevestrodeday1) next time like kickinthecreatives or inktober do? ...Just a thought. I still plan to do some of them and post when I can but time split between getting a collection of works together and my 4 year old daughter means I have to be selective :-)

Good thoughts Gary - I will consider these options another time! Hopefully we will get some more interest now the challenges are all on PO and can be shared on the forum and/or gallery.
This is Steve’s challenge for today, a selfie. I managed to post it in the right place yesterday (FB) but can’t do it today!

Is this a study you've produced in the last few days, or one you did earlier?  I don't think I could have managed to work that quickly, if indeed you did.  But whatever, it's a pleasing study. I've drawn myself, but never painted myself - I suppose colour would reveal the full horror.... don't know why I don't do it, though: I know someone who painted themselves from a photograph..... of all the bonkers endeavours you could think of!  You have a model who will always be available, whom you won't have to pay to sit for you, and what do you do?  You take a photo....... people can be VERY odd.
I painted it this morning Robert - I’ve got my old painting shirt on…it’s clean at the top and gets dirtier the further down you go.
A fairly quick sketch in acrylic trying to stay loose. 10”x7” on Bockingford paper. This took me between half an hour and 3/4 so hopefully qualifies as challenge no 23!
