A couple of thoughts...
It would be useful to be able to set which Portfolio appears as a thumbnail in
the Gallery.
When viewing an Artists portfolios provide a link from one portfolio to another.
Jeannette Harrison's portfolios illustrate the problem if you view her new painting "The Bridge" from the Home page how do you easily get to her other portfolios ?
