Can anyone explain how the number of viewings of our own art works? If I go into 'My Account' and look at 'Your art has received' the number of viewings seems extraordinarily high and goes up by the hundreds every day! How is this calculated, is it the number of times the POL website is visited? I cannot believe all these people are actually viewing my art, flattering though it is to imagine they are!

Hello! As far as I know the viewings is calculated each time someone clicks on your images to have a closer look. Why shouldn't they want to view them??

Thank you Gudrun, the reason I was so baffled is because I've posted very little recently and so my work would take some finding! The new website has obviously attracted a far bigger audience!

Slightly off topic but I leafed through the very back pages of the Gallery yesterday back to 2007. Still fascinating work, lots of Gallery hogging, but no one from back there is commenting these days. Ah such is life

Since posting this topic 2 hours ago, the number of my own personal viewings has gone up by over 250! I can't believe that many people would view my art, it surely must be the number viewing the whole Gallery?

I've never taken any notice of this but will be keeping tabs on it. As of 10.25 am today the 18th Feb the reading is 63723 viewings. I know I've been posting for about 4 years but this does seem exceptionally high - anyway we shall see.

If you are thinking of me Sylvia, I only recently joined in May (I think) last year, To date I have 169 pieces of artwork on show and received 112,439 views, sounds incredible, but will keep an eye on it myself. The top viewing is Pot Kilns, Hanley, with 1845, but quite a few others getting close.

Alan, Sylvia was thinking of Alan Owen I think - he's come and gone from the site several times under different names, so his statistics don't reflect the length of time he's been around. I find the number of viewings hard to credit, too - I can't remember what mine are, but I do remember being somewhat staggered - now if everyone one of those viewers had paid us £1 each ..... ah, perchance to dream...! On the other hand though, this is an international site - and we know from our inventive spammers that it's seen wherever people have computers.... so maybe it's not so incredible.
