I've recently been having a go with my late dad's oils.  By the look of his palette and looking at Paul Robinson's analysis of van Gogh's palette in September's A&I, I guess my dad, before he died, was trying out van Gogh's colours.  I can't get the greens in there, viridian, an ancient tube of paint, don't know where me dad got it, but it's in a lead tube with a metal (lead) cap, and Windsor emerald.  I find them both too strident, both raw and mixed, he also had a sap green in there which I find more sympathetic for mixes.bestMick
