I have only just started posting my artwork on this site and am not sure what the protocol is when people comment about my work. I have been putting a thank you in the 'comments box' to thank the group of people who have left comments. Is this the right thing to do or should I be thanking people individually? Hope you can help!! Thank you. Lynn
Lynn you are doing it just right, either individually or as a group . It's the fact that you do acknowledge a comment at all. There isn't a set protocol but a its just a nice thing to do and say Thanks. Sadly some people don't bother. Welcome to the forum .
Hi Lynn - welcome to the Forum. I love your paintings on the gallery and as Sylvia says just a simple thank you is enough. You will find that there is a group of us who comment regularly on each other's work and this is also to encourage and advise each other as we give ourselves different challenges. So if you have the odd bit of time and wish to join in, you would be very welcome.
Glad i saw this post! I was wondering too... there isnt really an easy way to just click a 'like' on someones comment, so I was wondering too if just leaving a 'thank you' would do it :) cheers everyone!
FAVORITISM WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT .
What are you on about Russ? Air your gripe please
Likewise, almost daily scan and I find I am ignoring the pretty pictures more, even by artists I like and view and comment on whatever attracts me. New folk are always in here, some don't respond with a thanks and don't reciprocate, I ignore their lack of manners but after a while I ignore them too, with eyes on something else.
Again, with this one I'm probably amongst the "sinner" class in not replying to everything I should. I do try to aknowlege and thank comments which are rarely ( never even) anything other than kind. I really appreciate and admire the work of many people here from beginners to skilled artists, but I really don't want any of it to become a rule or task that has to be obeyed because it really shouldn't be mandatory. Artists are odd creatures (have been from time immemorial) and I think this reflects in the different attitudes here. I'd hate, for instance, the work of any artist to cease just because it isn't lauded extensively. Many artist far better than me get no comment; I'd like to think that's a personality trait rather than a judgement on their art. To be able to view, admire and learn from others is totally desirable in any community and I really like the way people who are just finding their feet are encouraged by more skilled and experienced members, that's really great. In short, not too many rules that are really just personal opinions; live and let live and just enjoy it all. (-:
Wish you can success, you will be a great guys on art.
Exactly my sentiments!
Exactly so Syd - don't know if you realised my comment was a little sarcastic.
Lost the plot on this one - puts me in mind of the following poem from my latest anthology: PLANS FOR TONIGHT Twopence three farthings for a quart of good cider and a ha’penny radish to nibble a comfy bed where I can lie and a pillow on which I can dribble.
