Does the system on the site not accept them?
It's possible to use them on my keyboard.
Apostrophes? Yes, it does .... why wouldn't it, he asked, using one...... What it, and some other sites, are less keen on is accents................ I shall endeavour to demonstrate.
For example, I'm not sure this site will show an accent égu - oh..... yes it will... Should have been aigu, of course, but that wouldn't have achieved the objective. Let's try one more (the reason I'm doing this in separate posts is because I seem to remember trying to insert an accent using the Alt + system, and lost the whole post. So if nothing should appear below, it's because I tried to use an Umlaut, and lost it.....

Right then - let us say I was trying to type the name of the German Finance Minister, Herr Wolfgang Schäuble ....... And I think it would work. So - if there's a problem, I don't know where it lies.
As half of us tend to get the apostrophes in the wrong place anyway, I'm inclined to agree with you. And even the French are (apparently) giving up accents over letters - so, ca ne fait rien. Or something.
Well, these all work for me: !"£$%^&*()_+@:?><'/#~ and more..... but what doesn't is a line break. If I press "Return" aka "Enter" nothing at all happens! No new line or paragraph, not even a space.....
As Syd says: ca ne fait rien (haven't a clue how to do the dangly bit under the 'c' but it really doesn't matter does it)
