The figure is taken from ‘The Crucifixion of St.Andrew’ by Caravaggio. You can see the complete painting here:

The study was made by direct drawing on a graphics tablet with a stylus. No digital shortcuts were used. I followed a normal painterly procedure first an outline sketch then working over it in colour. The process is similar to direct painting in acrylic or oil using paint straight from the tube.
There is a more finished version of the torso in my Gallery portfolio. I’m posting it here without further comment so as to allow members to freely express their observations and opinions
