If 15fdds is asking for critique of these two paintings there is a section on the forum for this. Scroll down the forum topics until you find it, it is near the bottom. I have uploaded a couple of mine for critique and found the advice I received valuable. It does rather puzzle me why several members have posted to the forum for critique rather than the section set up for that purpose.
We don't know what the originator of this post is asking, he or she doesn't say, a rather common occurrence just lately. 15sddf, what is your question?, also give as much detail about the artist, perhaps that is yourself, so that we are able to give you an answer if we possibly can. If it is appraisal that you are seeking there are plenty of artists on this forum who will be willing to oblige including myself, but we do need more information first.
Did you buy them from Chinese sources? The term 'hand painted oil painting' is an odd one, and redolent of their marketing technique. There are people who paint with their mouths or feet, lacking the use of their hands - but generally it would be hard to find a painting that was NOT hand painted; possibly the distinction offered here is only that they're not done by machine. What comment do you seek? They're worth what you paid for them; they look rather like reproductions, or at least the water-lilies one does; the top one is a mystery to me - I don't know what or where it's supposed to be, or whether such plants as those depicted exist: and perhaps I have too literal a mind to appreciate it. I don't like that one, I could live with the second, but the point is do YOU like them? As you bought them, I presume you do. In short - we can comment on these paintings as much as you want us to, but without knowing more about them - where you bought them; what appeals to you about them, and so on - there's really not a lot to be usefully said.
Agreed.
The trouble with those paintings is that they're cheap and cheerful - but this is no tragedy if you like them, and you didn't pay much for them. They're bright, and colourful, I daresay they're competently painted technically, although only time will determine that. Just enjoy them - but if you ask for an evaluation, either of their merit or worth here (and you were not clear, as you have accepted) well, we don't really do that; sometimes we're able to help a little with old paintings (though not often) but these are modern pictures produced probably on something of a production line: none of us is likely to be happy with the results, I'm sorry. I accept that you're not a seller, which is why I've replied rather than deleting the thread, but we have been plagued by those who are, who are not even being honest about what they're trying to do; and enough is enough. If you have contributions to make to the forum please do - the comments have really been about this kind of painting and those who are trying to flood the art market with competent but unoriginal copies and made-up scenes - and this explains the irritation displayed.
These two paintings are really beautiful, I like them very much.
Definitely a "twilight zone" moment 😎
I think that I'm losing the will to live... If I see these two awful paintings re-appear again that's my lot. This thread started as a scam, the initial author has been removed and our friend Semb is becoming a boring pest with nothing constructive to say.
