having just started oils, and pleased with my first result, i was a little baffled with things i was reading on oil painting and varnishing. when doing my painting i was told to ( instructions in a how to) add linseed oil and dammer varnish and a little more turps. but today when reading a bit of blurb from Winsor & Newton it said NEVER add varnish to the paint. was only to be used when painting was dry(6 mths) anyone clear this up (?) thanks
