Thank you Tessa , apparently the Liver birds were based on Cormorants… So like their mates the Albatross they are seagully things that catch fish.
Love Sylvia’s remarks about albatross’s being ‘sea gully’ things, I’d hate to have an albatross after my chips the next time I’m on the seafront. Thanks for your kind remarks about my pic.  It’s an oldie, can’t remember if I ever posted it.  Probably not, it wasn’t in my POL gallery.
Great stuff Lew - and Sylvia; not to disaparage the others!  These two stand out to me, though.  Dixie/Paul: hope you can get that hand working again - it's an interesting thought, to paint or draw with the left (in my case the wrong) hand: I'll have to try that -one day, after all, I might need to - my blood pressure is carefully monitored every 8 months or so, and by me in between times, but you can never be sure you won't suffer a stroke.... such a happy thought!  The late Dennis Snowden did (I always get names wrong: hope I've got that right) and sort of overcame it; but he knew his work was never the same afterwards. By the way - what IS the June challenge?  It may be the heat, or senility, but I've found it very hard to keep up with them.

If you are asking about the daily challenge Robert rather than the one for the month (two different threads), I set the daily one, after consulting with Paul. I had the idea of using old-fashioned songs, ones we'd hopefully all know, a different one for each day, as the subject matter, and people could interpret as they liked. Paul liked the idea, and I did run the list past him first. So that is where all this comes from. Albatross is music rather than a song, but I included it as I love these beautiful birds. I have gone back to abstract so haven't been sketching these but I check in and must say I love what all our talented sketchers have made of my idea. Great sketches and some wonderful humour.  The list of songs is right at the beginning.

When I was a child I had a Pelham Sinbad the sailor puppet, couldn’t find much in the way of photos, (there were apparently later versions which were very different) but this is what I came up with.
Super work Stephen.  More oldies from me.
Some splendifferous work on here.
A tiny teeny little one from me - approx 3”x3”.
Really cute!
Well...if you allow for global warming...
