So we have arrived in June (how did that happen!) and we have a new area for our monthly challenges. So for June the idea is all about recycling. You can either incorporate recycled materials into a mixed media painting, paint or draw something that fits the theme or recycle an old work into something completely new. The choice is yours - look forward to seeing what you all come up with!
To Get the ball rolling here is my wash day recycling painted up, It is off An old washing machine drum, and a broken revolving washing line which broke last year and I hate throwing things away.
Here is one more. We all get a lot of plastic these days, especially if like  me you have plastic milk bottles. The in thing todo with them it seems is to use them as planters. Here are two ways I am using them, one for Strawberrys, and one for Nastersiums .

All great ways of recycling Alan. Who'd have thought a washing machine drum could be used as something else.  I'm currently using an old bolognese sauce jar to hold water for cleaning my paint brushes. Maybe I will have a go at painting that.
Great ideas Alan!  and very nicely sketched.
I've just painted over a portrait of our German model Dagmar.  I was never happy with it - she was wearing her traditional german dirndl red dress and holding a cross.  It had a pale blue background so that has become  the sky.  the painting is now a beech tree in autumn.  Hope to be able to post it soon.
This is my first attempt at this challenge - have cut up and collaged a few bits of old paintings and a drawing.   Dawn, thanks for setting up the new forum area for this - very easy to find now!

I like this challenge, has lots of potential to try something different. I’ve chosen to recycle an old quink ink and bleach experiment....mainly strengths of both and their reaction to water. I later added some print work over the top and have now dipped my toes into collage. I’ve never done any collage before and I have been very sparse with it on this occasion. I hope to have another go, I have lots of failed material to practice on.
Fiona, I love this collage - composition and colours, it’s worked really well.

Fiona I really like your collage, the colours and composition are great. Tried to like it on post but not sure it worked !
Another recycled painting - not done recently, but one I had discarded a few years ago and later went back to - thought I could give it a new life by adding some linocut collage (badger) and some (photo-collaged) flowers.

Jenny, Gillian.....thanks to you both for your comments. I have to admit it was easier....on this occasion....than I thought it might be but that would depend on the extent of how much detail, size, intricacy I suppose.  Starting off with a simple one has encouraged me to try another......I have millions of ideas racing around my head!
