Week four’s diary Todays class was again about playing with paint and water.  My mistake was giving the class a smooth paper to do wet on wet , which we all know it doesn’t  work very well.  But it worked well because it did  teach us all what happens when you use the wrong paper, changing the paper showed a great improvement in the end results of skies and trees etc.   We also had another new member who was mesmerised by what we were doing,  although she came to learn how to draw ended up going home with some pretty colours on paper.   Comments made during questions about was the class what they expected,  most said no, but much more fun and lots of hints on what to do and what to avoid, which personally I don’t remember having when I first started.   But it is good to share and have the courage to ask all sorts of questions, that might not be appropriate at the beginning but will be needed at a later date.  As they all seem to keep returning I must be doing something right.       As for my hand I am going to have a minor surgery as soon as possible,  which should sort it out.  See you all soon
Glad to read all is going well with the art group, Tao. There'll always be something that pops up and questions asked, no matter how advanced we are at painting. Hope all goes well with the surgery, and it gets sorted.
Thank you very much  CJ  for your kind comments
Looks like it's going really well Tao - a testament to your hard work. I know how hard it is to run these groups and still keep them fresh and interesting and you seem to have cracked it.
Thank you so  much Michael for your lovely comments
Such well done Tao ,you are making several people really happy.  Hope the surgery goes well.
Thank you very much Sylvia  for your lovely comments.  not sure I will get my hand sorted,  you know the NHS....!!!
I’m pleased that your group is doing well Tao, you put a lot of work into it. I have a workshops next week that I’m running as a fund raising event for the National Trust. Like you I’m having problems with my hands  at present, and I hope that yours is soon sorted out for you.  Painful or not I intended to continue painting, is it’s a good distraction as you probably find.
Thank you so much for your comments Paul,  How lovely to be doing workshops for the NT, Where about are they going to be ? you are right when you say about keeping up the painting as a distraction.  but I do find wearing an arthritic glove help tremendously.  Good luck with your workshops,  wish I could be at one.
The workshops are at Hughenden Manor near High Wycombe the one on this Wednesday is autumn colours. I have another one in November, watercolour Christmas cards and bookmarks. There are quite successful and include light lunch. We normally make about £300 or £400 to use for conservation work in the countryside.  You mentioned that you wear a arthritic glove, does it work? I’m suffering from acute inflammatory arthritis at the moment in both wrists and hands, awaiting an appointment with the rheumatologist. Have hand braces at the moment but it difficult to paint, a glove sounds a good option.
Thank you for your information,  unfortunately I am unable to make Wednesday and am away in November.  as Reading is not too far away I would have come.    The Gloves I use  are from Dr Arthritis Compression Gloves from Amazon, I have a couple of different pairs.  but the gloves I find best for me are the Black Gloves with grips on the palms with half fingers.  Hope this helps
Thank you for the information Tao. I will let you know what dates I set up for next year. Be good to have you come along and co-lead if you feel inclined.
