I am a Newbie so am unsure of the correct procedure & I would not want to offend anyone. However I would like to say that I think it is a shame that we have no idea of who views our work, we only know who views it if they leave a comment. I really do appreciate the comments I get & it is those that keep me going but I do get more views than comments. Would be interested to hear what others have to say & thank you for taking the time to read this. Donna
You will always find many more views than comments Donna. If I'm viewing the Gallery and see a newish artist, I look at their gallery out of interest, but don't really wish to comment, not because I don't like their work but because you can spend an awful lot of your day just doing that. I don't worry about knowing who has viewed my work but it is nice to know that it has been considered worth taking a peek. You may have noticed that there is a group of us who will comment on each other's work because we kind of know each other now and we take an interest in what we are all producing and the challenges we are facing. You will also notice that you may comment on some artist's work and it will never be acknowledged.
I hope you keep posting both work and comments Donna.
I always post a "thank you" - the only reason I may not is because someone may have looked at an older painting and left a comment which has not shown up on my "recent comments" page so to any of those people - thank you very much. It is after all basic good manners.
I get an e-mail notification every time someone leaves a comment; it's really useful
I agree, Margaret, that a little "thanks" is the least I can do when other members are taking the time to post a comment on my work. It is also true that some of us are (lets say) a little group with interest for each others work because we are posting for many years and because we like those works. I try to comment on many works who really stand out in my opinion. But you are right, it takes a lot of time! But I think it sometimes is difficult to know the difference between the work of a "professional" and a "hobby"-painter. I know a lot of posting people on the POL-site whose work looks even better than some "professionals". :) Mia Ketels http://www.painters-online.co.uk/artist/MiaKetels
Thank you Margaret & Mia for your comments on this post, makes interesting reading. May I also add I think both of your works are amazing and a pleasure to see. Donna
I also agree Mia, that I consider that a lot of amateurs are far better artists than professionals. I think POL is great both to see other peoples work and show your own paintings. I have had a peep at your gallery and it is super.
You have only to look at the standard of work from the hobby painter to know that you don't have to be a professional to produce decent paintings, that said, of course I am not discrediting professionals but sometimes it is hard to understand why some works of art are so sought after!
I agree 100%, Adele. Some 'so to say art-works' , sold for xxxxx £ make me wonder if they are joking and if they know how to make a decent drawing! It is all about being in a certain group (writers, poets or painters) and knowing the right people! The more extravagant the better to shock the viewers! Thank you Margaret for having a look at my work and even taking the time to post a comment :) Mia Ketels http://www.painters-online.co.uk/artist/MiaKetels
I think it's called "technology" Donna and I'm never surprised when certain things don't work. I'll have to look to see if I can activate the e-mail notification, though I have managed without it so far!
When I first saw this post where you described yourself as a "newbie" Donna, I did think, "no she isn't"!
