I always think of my grandfather when I see sweet peas: they were his favourites - alongside wallflowers - and he was very good at cultivating them. I only paint flowers in situ, as part of landscapes - might be an idea to have a go at a painting JUST of flowers, like that lovely piece by Sylvia. Can't compete, though!

Go for it Robert , I rarely paint flowers these days but do enjoy it when I do , they can be very challenging.
My grandfather was a very keen gardener, with a six boys and two girls in the 1920 he needed to be and grew all the veg he could. His favourite flowers were, sweetpea, sweet William, gladioli and roses , I remember visiting him and staying with him , always fresh vegetables and flowers, great memories. Just hope my grandchildren say the same in years to come, about picking strawberries, peas, tomatoes and home grown spuds etc , plus painting with me , what better epithet could I ask for .
