My June issue of The Artist finally arrived and this month had some very interesting articles ( we all have our favourite topics and this edition had plenty for me ). I just wanted to say to Alan, whose article “ The Secret of success”was featured, that I enjoyed it very much. For someone who doesn’t do a lot of pen and wash or watercolour, this article was full of interest. Alan’s examples were lovely - particularly “ Early Morning on Faversham Creek” with its beautiful simplicity and the feeling of tranquility achieved. And no, he didn’t slip me a backhander to write this.😁
My issue came yesterday, I haven't had time to look yet but I'll have a read over the weekend. Looking forward to it.
Thank you Marjorie, that’s a very nice compliment and greatly appreciated - I hope that a few readers will give my Early Morning, Faversham Creek WIP a go!  Simple enough, but you can’t rush this style of watercolour, it’s about thinking in layers…and of course tonal values play a big part in success or failure, as is the case with most paintings!
I also enjoyed reading your article Alan and am really looking forward to having a go at Faversham Creek.
Alan, I love pen and wash/watercolour and thought the article was one of your best, with some great illustrations.

Again, another excellent article, Alan. I will have a go sometime this week.
Thank you Karen, Jenny and Denise, so pleased that you enjoyed my article in TA. Karen and Denise… I’d love to see your efforts, shout up if you need any further information.  Space is limited in these features, so it isn’t always possible to be as comprehensive as one would like!
