Do you perhaps remember that when a tiger painting was shown on the forum, I remarked that somewhere or other, I had a rather good tiger painting from the old Brooke Bond Tea picture card collection? I bet you don't....
Anyway, I found it just now, and will post, if it'll do that for me. Painted by C F Tunnicliffe R.A., and in my opinion, if you're going to paint a tiger (and I agree with those who say they are just a bit omni-present) this is a good way of doing it.

Tunnicliffe inspired me to make dozens of drawings of exotic beasts and more humble animals, most (but not all) of which I've lost. Of course, I lost the best one! I wonder if it still exists somewhere.... It was a Gaur, an Indian ox; I drew it, copying from the Brooke Bond book, when I was in hospital having two ingrown toenails removed - it took my mind of the ordeal; much admired it was - the drawing, not the ordeal - though I says it as shouldn't. It probably looks a lot better in my mind's eye than it actually was.
Oh, and yes: this is a living pose of a powerful beast - showing a master's hand. Do we all go through a "must paint a tiger" stage, I wonder - actually, I don't think I ever did.... there have been some good ones on POL, now and then; but this pose is natural, not a static animal in a cage.
I do run on.....
