Hello all the lovely helpful forum users. I'm really hoping someone might be able to give me some ideas.
As any artist does, I need to supplement my income slightly, and am thinking about teaching small workshops. The thing is, I have no idea where to start.
I know there are heaps and heaps of artists who are untrained who teach workshops and art classes, so I know its not unfeasible, but how would I go about starting this up? What do people look for? How much do I charge? What hours?
Any ideas very welcome as this is a very new venture for me but something I am seriously considering, but of course only if you think people might actually be interested in attending!!! Thats a start/question!!!
thank you
Georgina

Your work is credential enough I imagine so personally in your shoes I would probably make a you tube video or two showing off this work (so you have somewhere to send people)
Price would presumably be dependant on class size... if you are organising a day with a class you can obviously do this more reasonable that one to one teaching.
Just my initial thoughts.

Haidee-Jo is probably the best person to answer these questions for you Georgina. She holds workshops in her studio in Lincolnshire. I know she instructs on many painting holidays here and abroad also. She does tune in to the forum from time to time as you will have seen, but why not drop her an email and see if she can help. ( Google Haidee-Jo Summers). I'm often asking her for advice and she is such a helpful girl.
I may be wrong but I can't think of anyone on the forum who holds workshops - I could be wrong of course.
I believe that you could pull in some interested artists.

Thank you everyone, some great ideas here. I'll send Haidee-Jo an email....i'd be slightly hesitant though as she is so blooming good and will probably be horrified by the idea of someone like me teaching people - slightly the blind leading the blind so to speak. Anyone, I'm sure she will be kind in her reply so hopefully it won't be too painful!!!
