I'm reading a biography of Renoir. he fell off his bike and broke this right arm so he just picked up his brush in his left hand and carried on painting.....he was just as good, no one could tell the difference. Makes you sick doesn't it, I have enough trouble trying to paint with one hand!!
I guess it's one way of loosening up.  Just switching hands, I mean, not breaking your arm.
Due to ongoing problems with both hands , my left hand is much better after surgery, I do swap hands quite a bit . However my right hand is the dominant and while unsteady I us it fir the detailing more than the left hand.
Being mainly a right handed person, I often use my left hand to paint detail into a painting. During recovery after breaking my left wrist I found using the left hand was of benefit to aid in its recovery and mobility when painting. The small twists and turns can be oblivious but, on a regular use, I found for me, can be of benefit for aiding recovery.
I too painted with my non dominant hand when recovering from surgery. Not easy and I found it difficult to get much detail in, so it was a way of loosening up. It was an interesting experience and did show me that creativity comes from the brain though!
Oops double post!

Thanks for the advice, I will try it with my other hand.
Hmmmm
Yeah, I feel my left hand  is bullied by the dominant right. Politics of today. As I wrap toilet paper around my head in the name of art, I’ll  try to take a picture, although I can’t help but punch myself in the face at the same time.  Darn far right! Hey, that’s art too. The summoning of purple and blue with a dash of red. Think I’ll call it The Living Colour.
