I just wondered if anyone else uses their paintings like I do.   Have spent the last hour  sticking and folding.   These are just the latest lot.  Have done  this for a couple of years now in varying formats .  The next stage is popping into cello envelopes.   They have a basket in my hall and people come and buy them or I post ...or ,as last week they come with me to fairs etc.  easy to make and pretty good mark up .  Time consuming but keep me busy.  Anyone interested in having their own Sylvia cards give me a shout, I didn't post this for that reason though I wondered if anyone else does this.
Sylvia, what a lovely selection of cards you’ve done- no wonder they sell so well. I have only produced Christmas cards from my paintings which I send to friends and family which they seem to enjoy receiving and have brought me a few commission requests. You’ve spurred me on to think about doing more!
When I was working I used to hand paint about 150 cards for friends and colleagues until someone said they thought it was a bit cheapskate well that put a end to it. I did do some a few years later but was careful who I gave them too.  I think that both of you have done beautiful cards, the last card I painted was for the RAF Benevolent Fund to send out to all their beneficiaries I think they printed 2000 but could not send then the year I did the painting due to the Covid restrictions causing then to be locked in the office .  The remit was a traditional type aircraft so I did a Hurricane on the ground with the ground crew and guards . I did a slight variation as one had a dusting of snow on the aircraft, the publisher’s chose the one without for some reason.
Those look great Christine a lady after m6 own heart.  Paul..2000 pity you weren't flogging them for a couple of quid...
Sylvia, do you scan and print the paintings yourself or pay for them to be printed professionally? I was looking into getting some cards printed but I suspect it is going to be expensive!
It's a brilliant idea - and brilliantly conceived by Sylvia, with those lovely cards: my guess is that she does use a professional printer, I don't think home printing outfits, however good, could look as great as those.  Paul - "cheapskate"?  Anyone who said that would be right off my Christmas list - did they think that home-made cards were a cheap option?  Idiots.   I'll tell you the difference between Sylvia and some of the rest of us - no, I will, it must be told, I cannot be held back.....   She is an enterprising lady: if she gets an idea, she doesn't just think "oh that'd be nice" and then while away the rest of the day looking out of the window and eating Turkish Delight, she gets on and she damn' well does it.  Energy plus industry plus talent - that's Sylvia.  Throw in a dash of courage, too.  Now, she has her faults - who among us shall cast the first stone?  But she's also an example and an inspiration of what can be done if you just try.
I am a Sylvia fan Robert. Great artist and very enterprising. A breath of fresh air too
Your cards look fantastic Sylvia.  As Robert says we can only admire your 'get-up-and-go.'  Every year since before the flood I've 'thought' about making my own Christmas cards.  A couple of years ago I actually did it.  I had some printed, not cheap...this is not a cheap option...but not staggeringly expensive either.  It's all too easy to buy a pack of supermarket cards for a fiver.   I'm 'thinking' about doing it again this year.  But turning 'thinking' into action is not my strong point. Plus with have Christine and Dixie getting in on the act...where are my turkish delights?
Awe...I'm blushing and hiding under the table covered in profiterole.  I'm not good at sums but they cost me under fifty pence each I sell them for £2.00 each.  There it's out...will be a millionaire by next year.  Early this year I made £300 for Ukranian refugees I just gave all my profit, now I'm doing it for me.  I use Snap fish an on line photograph printers . I wait until they have offers on their prints these in the pic were 11p each,I  buy blanks on Amazon  an inch larger than my print   ,I look for the bargains plus these come with envelopes . I turn on radio 4 or some music  and spend a sticky time with a spray adhesive and compile them....you can print on the back, put on a label or just write a few details.  I also pop them in cello bags often from home bargains.  Hey ho a saleable  card.  I have people who call in for them  I take them to fairs etc they do go.   Much cheaper than having the whole thing professionally done.  Plus people like them and cheaper than Tesco.
I’ve only had cards printed at Christmas- usually at Vistaprint when there’s an offer such as 50% off, which makes them much cheaper.  Thank you Lewis- as I’ve just got organised and put my pastel paintings in a photobook. I remembered you saying once before that you’ve done this a few times. Very pleased with the result.
Turkish delight, profiteroles :-) :-) Sylvia, you haven't priced in the cost of the originals, paint paper, time.  It's all valuable.
We are an indulgent lot here Norrette , hopefully the original paintings get sold or they are shoved  under my bed.
