I don't recall any comment being made about digital work being 'inferior', but I may have missed that one if it was said.
The point that I was making is that if it is digital, then tell us - this isn't happening on some works which are being posted, and referred to as paintings. Digital is NOT painting!

Interesting thread. I mostly use traditional formats but I do like occasionally doing some digital stuff too - drawings from scratch on tablets or phone. However, I've not posted any of them on Painters Online - my stuff is fairly unsophisticated and, to my eyes, obviously digital. My view is probably that digital is great for illustration but but nothing beats traditional media for a proper painting - by the way, I'm not terribly fond of hyper-realism (in whatever format) though I can admire the technical excellence involved! Here is one of mine - was just a bit of fun done out of a window. This is drawn - it is not a manipulated photo (though that is probably obvious by the mistakes!) I think another role for digital may well be getting some people interested in drawing - which may lead them to other media in due course. Starting of drawing using a phone or tablet can be done without buying any new materials, uses very little space, and can be done anywhere at any time! Personally, I had not been doing much drawing or painting for a number of years and, at least partly, restarted using a tablet. Am currently using mostly pen, watercolours, and acrylics. I agree that posters should state what the media is too.

I thought there was something about Skylars work...im a bit slow on the uptake.
I'm disappointed its all digital, its just not the same as 'real' paint. Mind you, its better than a blatant photograph!! Another 'mistake' I suppose. I get fed up of the gallery some days . Some folk seem to treat it like a place to try and trick people.
Maybe im tired

Well, as I've said, for me digital is just another medium. It happens to be one I like. There are others I don't like...pastels for example, I just make a mess with them. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy other people's pastel work. It's true that there's a whole range of trickery available to digital users, but if there are people who do this to deceive, that's all about them and nothing to do with digital itself. It's a wonderful medium. Maggyn said it's 'probably good for illustration'. How true. All work that's for publication in some way has to be digitalised, if it starts out that way so much the better. But ALL mediums are good for illustration...so I'm back to it being just another medium.
Thanks to all for your views on this thread, it's been fascinating.
Lew.
