We were very sorry to hear today of the death of wildlife artist and conservationist David Shepherd - a great man who will be much missed.
That is sad news indeed, a wonderful artist who did so much for the conservation of wildlife. This news comes so shortly after the death of Bernard Dunstan who we spoke about recently.
Another icon has passed - so sad!
Sad news, remembered for some very atmospheric railway paintings as well as his wildlife works.
The sad thing for me is that there has been so little coverage of David. He gave so much back. I thought the BBC would have at least have done a retrospective of his achievements.
Syd - it reminds me of something my eldest daughter said , on coming home from her fine art class - " an artists statement about his art , says more about his art than the work itself ever can " . My daughter took a fine art degree course , as far as I can ascertain she didn't do very much " proper " painting , although I have to say that when the students held an exhibition , a collector came straight up and offered her £200 for one of her weird works .
