Interesting that you say your a anxious person yet it does not show in your artwork, to me they are always calm and gentle but not in a twee way. I read a lot and one artist was saying that we go through different fazes , we paint busy fussy scenes in out early days and as we get older we become more mellow and choose the more gentle scenes to paint .
Hells bells I must be in my dotage and near the end as I’m really fond of painting nostalgic scenes at the moment, better dust the insurance policy off, wonder if someone will take up my unfinished paintings.
I have noticed over the last few years that I have come almost full circle , back to landscapes where I started and boat’s something I’ve always love to paint. It probably because I feel more relaxed when painting these scenes , and I do stretch myself by adding figures and animals something I would never have attempted before. Also not having to rush of to work is a definite bonus , but fitting in time for painting can still be a juggling act.
