I wonder...i have been pondering the idea of these ten minute challenges today as I've been stuck in a hotel with zilch to do. Foolishly even took my travel paints out of my bag jyst last week...big mistake. Anyway it got me thinking how would it be if we had more pop up challenges? So maybe a 3pm challenge...draw or paint something from your life as it occurs as 3pm. Or 6 or whenever I dunno...do people like them? D
Yes. These things are always good to give you a prompt, which probably explains why there are so many of them. I like the rolling challenges on Twitter - #landfebruary (landscapes, any media) is just about to run off and be replaced by (I think it's) #animalmarch - and "28 Drawings Later" is just finishing up on Facebook. Also on Facebook, 64 Million Artists provides a weekly challenge (this week's is create a mask). I'm sure there are more.
Sometimes I like them, if I'm in the mood. I'm just quite often not in the mood - Fiona had one such a day or so ago: go out into the sunshine and draw something, she said. Not on your life, ducks! It's freezing out there.
David P, I will participate in the occasional challenge but not on a regular basis and not to any specific time. I am generally involved with projects in the studio throughout the day and that requires all my attention. That was a rather good spontaneous challenge set by the 'wicked' Fiona, involving sketching in sub-zero temperatures, but I enjoyed my five minutes or so doing my awful quickie, since removed from my gallery I might add. It is probably a good idea in principle and I'm sure that a few of you might give it a go, the idea is sound and could produce some interesting results. Sorry, but I'll have to bow out of this one.
Yes, I also enjoyed it David, and I will no doubt participate again at some point, should you or another member launch a similar challenge in the future.
Certainly inspired me Sylvia, I could manage a 30 minute quick oil sketch, well wrapped up of course.
