Oh yes Daveboyz… him and Syd did not get along, in fact it got rather personal at one time and I believe you had to step in Robert. Anyway, putting that aside, he was doing well on the Charles Bargue course, but wilted along the way and started skipping whole sections - a great pity! Mind you, I doubt that I could maintain my enthusiasm for as long as he did, it’s a pretty relentless and technically constructed course. The 400lb Arches paper is from Jackson’s, around £17 an imperial sheet. They cut it into four at no extra charge, so you get 4 x 11 x15in pieces from a sheet. Of course you could use the backs… but would that be wise, not really!

Just to return to the now ‘extinct’ Whatman watercolour paper, it was used by great artists including JMW Turner, John Robert Cozens and John Sell Cotman to name just a few! Recommendation if ever you needed it!
