I might be thick but I've only just realized that I don't have to sign in to the forum.Although I log out every time I can just come back and add a comment any time I like. No wonder we are getting all this spam... I have to log in to the gallery before commenting and I usually visit the forum after the gallery and then log out from the forum but obviously this is not foolproof and something needs to be done.
If you don't log out, you can stay permanently logged on - the disadvantage of which is that you'll forget your password if you never use it. It is very easy to comment - and of course this was done with the best of intentions, in order to avoid complicating log-in. But it's also made us very vulnerable to mass attack.
I just stay logged in permanently, this is one of the very few sites (if not the only site) where I can do that. It is very convenient (and I do have my password noted down) but as you say Robert the downside is the mass attack. May have to change?

If you log into the gallery first you will be able to use the forum without another login. I do find it odd that you can leave a comment after logging out, I've never been able to do that. But my pc settings are set up to delete all entered details of sites I visit when I clear browsing history.
it is time for a spam filter
On some sites you have to give a biog and reasons why you would like to join, this goes through a moderator. Then and only then is a person allowed on the site. Some also want your proper name and postcode.

I came to this forum because I am rather frustrated about my paintings. I dont understand what im doing when I paint and I dont feel (as I said, satisfied) :((
I will add my two pennyworth to this dreadful business. Is it not possible to Close the free entry Door-- until we have a safer method in place I really don't know what these idiots get out of this , surely they must realise that no-one reads any of their blurb, But it is really pleasing to know that someone can delete this from the forum . please keep up the good work. Tao
I don't think they really want anyone to read the rubbish they post, Tao, they just seem to like disrupting the site. We aren't on our own. On other sites, I use, they seem to have got it under control, maybe the blighters have found it a easier target, here.
The sad fact is though Carol, is that people have viewed them. Not en-mass but if you scan down you will see the viewing figures. I can see a 15 and a 23 on the first page. This is what they work on, the law of averages - knock on enough doors and you will get a sale. Anyone who is stupid enough to open one of these links is asking for trouble, a dangerous thing to do.

Don't know, but if you don't click and read the spam stuff, don't they just go away after a while?
They get pushed down, yes. But at the rate they've been coming, not fast enough.
