I so like the way you simplify shapes and your use of colour Ricardo.

Thank you Sylvia, you're too kind. But I do think I'm drawing nearer a process/method for how i want to approach watercolour. A large loaded brush, and not being fuzzy with details :)
What started as a pastel sketch …
Wow that has evolved Gillian...it works so well..
Thanks Sylvia, Paul set me a challenge as I haven’t been doing much art as my Parkinson’s and arthritis have been playing up! Just needed a push clearly!!
You have done a great job there Gillian , I’m the same I sometimes need a nudge to get started.
I had a discussion with a friend the other day. We talked about art and our favourite paintings, and the "what if you could chose one famous painting" - question arouse. I thought long and ended up surprising myself. I typically enjoy modernist, some impressionist and expressionist art the most, not renaissance stuff. But I ended up picking Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus". Not sure why but my decision stands.
I would have to choose almost any one of Klee's watercolours from his 1914 Tunisia trip. If forced, I'd go for one of the several entitled Kairouan. Deceptively simple yet marking a before and after moment for abstraction. [edit typo]

I commented once that one of your postings reminded me of Klee. I like his North African paintings too…the colours and the details.

10-15 minutes sketch that I might use as a painting some point ,I often doodle sketch then develop it into a full sketch or a painting. Have a good Christmas everyone and make it a new year resolution to do more sketches, I’m certainly going to try to get  back into the habit.
Nice one Paul! Same resolution for me!!
I've just started this sketch, where it will take me, I just don't know but I will be merrily sketching away today and tomorrow, no point in painting with visitors and so on. So have a wonderful Christmas everyone.
