Thanks Robert lots of practical advice in there to ponder and act on. I’ve done a bit more on the painting and decided to reduce the plan I had for the background. The end painting will show the engine and tractor in focus and quite bold, the background will hint at a building and trees. I’m also going to work on it when I feel like, not try to get it done. I might post here  it in the next day or two to show the progress, which I find tends to help as well.
This is looking good Stan.   We all have our days when it's hard to pick up a brush or stay motivated by our lives and particularly in a world currently going a little mad.  Look after yourself, hunker down, eat and sleep well if you can.
Stan no need for the apology. It’s good that you felt safe enough to post how you feel. I do agree with what Heather has said to rest, eat etc, nature is the best healer. I also understand how we be come quite emotional about our work, a lot of time, energy and emotions involved in most art of any kind. Following your example I’m posting how far I have reach with the painting that was bugging me, still a lot to do. Your new one looks good.
If it's any consolation Stan i'm in meltdown at the moment having posted on the daily sketch line through January and February. Now i'm just relaxing and picking up pencil/paintbrush  when i'm feeling in the mood. Its always good to talk and like Dixie said your latest work is looking good.
