Presumably David is a magazine subscriber - new here, but not new to the magazines; or such would be my guess.  But we shan't be able to form an opinion until we see the actual product.  I subscribe only to The Artist ... so obviously hope it doesn't suffer any diminution in space.  Where DID you get your information about pagination etc, David?  I won't make any decisions until I see the new magazine, anyway.
132 pages in the new ‘bumper’ edition. 80 pages in both the existing titles. But advertising pages won’t be duplicated in the single edition, editor’s leader page, full page of galleries and exhibitions, competition pages, letters page, and so on, so the actual percentage of art related content may stay the same, or close to the same. I’m a regular feature writer and also subscriber to The Artist, so obviously I’m hoping that this merger will be a success, and I believe it will, but I have also subscribed to Leisure Painter in the past. In fairness, the LP did have ‘some’ interesting content for me, I’m speaking as an experienced painter here, albeit limited. So, I would think that the amateur painter, or let’s say the relative newcomer/those anxious to learn sound painting practice, call them what you want, should be inspired by much of the content in The Artist… The cover price isn’t exactly a king’s ransom, it will still be good value for money I’m sure!

The new ‘bumper’ magazine is now out - received mine in the post today.  I see it’s effectively two separate magazines rolled into one, two different sections, both still with their own editors.  I’ve subscribed to The Artist for many years and was happy with that, although I’d occasionally also read Leisure Painter.  I find the combined magazine rather ‘information overload’ for one month’s reading - and I’m sure the price will increase when my subscription is next due.  Would be interested to know what others think of it?

I’ve only had time to glance at it as yet, but my first impression is positive! The whole magazine has a professional look and feel to it… I liked what I saw and it’s a substantial magazine in this new format, with a nice weight glossy front and back cover, now with a ‘spine’ to accommodate all 128 pages. I also liked the slightly matte look and feel of the paper stock for the inside pages. Being split into the two titles as such, I initially went directly to page 71, which is the start of The Artist volume. After that I briefly looked at the LP section which did seem to contain some interesting pieces. Okay, so I suppose it’s going to depend on the price! It may stay at the current cover price, we don’t know obviously, so we’ll address that issue later if or when it goes up. It means that I can pass my magazine onto my granddaughter who is more interested in the LP section… I would suggest that this could be the case with other members as well, and visa versa for many amateur artists who may benefit from reading TA edition! Credits in each section with the editors, publisher and also the participating staff at Warners, so making contact with any of the publishing team is clearly laid out with email addresses.

Still waiting for mine, hopefully today, so will pass judgement then! I must admit I sometimes struggle to read all of TA so am not sure I will get through a double edition, and certainly don’t want to pay a double sub which no doubt is planned.
Haven't seen it yet, must check my emails, because I receive the online edition.  If it's a more substantial publication, though, I might revert to a physical format, because I think I'm so much more likely to actually read it - I'm conscious that I've treated the digital form of it like any other email; some I look at, some I just glance at before deletion.  It sounds interesting - I really need to get a hard copy in my hands before I can make a judgement.  PS - I doubt that a double sub will be explained as such ... but if that were to follow, and I were asked to pay for a magazine I don't really want: shall we just say it wouldn't help to loosen my purse strings.

Nobody is saying that we have to read it all… I’m selective as I expect most of us are, I generally skip over flowers, some still life and animals. Take those out of the equation and it still leaves a fair amount of useful content for me to digest… drawing, oil/watercolour demos, figures and portraits, landscape/seascape and so on. Then there’s general stuff such as the letters page and a plethora of other content that I’m interested in. The cover price will probably increase, but it was probably due anyway, whatever the format. It won’t double, of that I’m confident. I don’t take any other magazines, I used to subscribe to A&I but got bored with the same content every month, so I’m happy to pay what for me is a relatively small price for an art magazine.
I find the combined magazine rather ‘information overload’ for one month’s reading - and I’m sure the price will increase when my subscription is next due.  Would be interested to know what others think of it?

I received mine yesterday and like the format. Like Alan, I skip through things I'm not interested in, but as a previous LP subscriber it's good to get TA as paper copy. I had a digital subscription to TA but I hate reading magazines on line so more than happy with the paper content. My worry is , like you Jenny is that there is going to be a hike in price, although if the nett number of subscribers has remained the same then Warners must be saving some money by only doing one print run a month. I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I’ve just checked, and the new cover price is £7.99, as opposed to £5.99 for The Artist. There’s probably going to be some incentive for annual subscribers such as myself, and many other members on here. As I mentioned previously, the cover price was more than likely to have been going up anyway, so for me, I don’t have any issues with the price!

That price compares pretty well with other publications - two magazines in one is a bit of an odd concept; I wonder if there won't be further changes ahead.  Anyway, let's get used to this one first.
Agreed, Robert, it's not the format I expected. Ultimately, I can imagine the two editorial boards being combined. I was in the supermarket earlier - last month's seperate bound issues were packaged together as one.  I didn't think to check the price.
