Odd title but couldn’t think of another one, we often read, hear and see artists referred to as a Master Artists or an Old Master , mostly referring to past artist who’s work is valuable and highly appreciated.
I was taking with a friend about painting and he asked me who I thought were master artist , must admit it stopped me in my tracks . I can reel off several of the great artists who are known as masters but I made me think who do I actually think of as masters of their craft. It’s bugged me since then and I decided to make a list based on artist who I think are masters at what they do and do meet the so call criteria .
This definition I copied from google .
So who would I put on my list if I was asked to produce one , a bit difficult as it could be an endless task , these artists I would definitely include , not in any particular order .
David Bellamy , Rowland Hilder, Alwyn and June Crawshaw, Peder Mork Munsted, John Blockley , Ann Blockley , John Singer Sargent, Claude Muncaster , Seago, Edward Wesson , Turner , Constable to name a few.
I will add that there are a few artist on POL who I would say are masters of their craft without them meeting the full criteria.
The question is who would you put on your list , it’s ok to duplicate other’s peoples choices . I suspect you will instantly think of some obvious names then start to dither about others.
