First and last paintings of 2025…
I enjoyed painting the leather chair more than the dog itself!
The latest is my biggest (ever) painting of hydrangea petals…. Almost a metre square. I enjoyed it because I was initially overwhelmed by the canvas size, but it turned out to be a lot easier to paint than I had anticipated, and helped me to use bigger brushes

Two excellent posts George.
On checking, I find my output last year was way down compared to previous years. Indolence and old-age I guess. I'll try to do better next year. On looking at what I liked most from last year, it's these...
Wasn't sure about the Klimt copy at first, but it's grown on me.
Mostly coloured pencils and pen.

Everyone's work on here is so good
I have been away for Christmas so not able to post until now. However I'm fully intending to post much more often in 2026
For the last few years, I get a sheet of full size imperial watercolour paper and in January complete a montage of my year in paintings.
This was my last one for 2024. Some of the paintings are not very good, but I like to look at them for the memories..
Incase you're wondering, the bottom right is not a homage to Jack Vettriano but a cynanotype that just came out looking like a Bugatti
And the image of the horse and carriage was made from the holders at my friend's wedding which held the petit fours. I flattened one of them out and used it as a stencil by grating inktense blocks over it.

Happy New Year everyone.
This is a lovely idea, it's inspiring to see such a variety of work. I often look in on the forums but don't contribute much (due to time, natural shyness, whatever) but I'd hate to see them go so will do my best in future.
It might be interesting to hear if anyone has any painting resolutions for next year. Mine are to draw more and possibly try a portrait or two. In which case, I'll definitely be on here for advice !!
It's been a wierd year for me and I've often felt like I've not achieved much, so it's been nice to look back and realise it's not been so bad after all. I've chosen four to represent the seasons.
Spring
Summer
Autumn
Winter

What a splendid montage Susan, and great seasonal paintings from Sarah.
Thought I'd post my last drawing of 2025. Not finished. Barely started. I made an old year resolution for this last day of 2025...draw something! Got this far...then company popped in...great, but drawing stopped. Just sat down to continue and got a phone call that somebody else is popping in. Great! Drawing back on the old back-burner.
When they go it'll be dark...so it'll be on with the dressing gown, out with the port and cheese, light up the old meerschaum, and begin pondering any two-pipe problems that might occur.
Just a thought...all this MIGHT, just conceivably MIGHT...make me sound a bit..........elderly? Nah! Happy New Year anyway.

There are some beautiful examples of everyone’s work on this thread. What is interesting is that everyone has a unique style or subject choice which is immediately identifiable, great stuff.
Here are a few from me.
January 2025’s first post - Keep The Aspidistra Flying.
From November one I really like because it was so simple to create but I felt had a big impact . Lost Sheep In A Rape Field.
Finally for 2025 a charcoal piece showing reflections in the mirrored walls of Milton Keynes shopping centre. I’m working on an acrylic version of this view which I will post as my first painting of 2026.
