It is lovely to get even one comment on your work, I always make a point of replying to a post, if people take the time to do it
then I feel it is polite to reply.
I do go back and look if I have a response to a comment I have made on others work and if there is never a response then I don't waste
my time and data on them.
As Sylvia and Margaret has said, its about friendship, and you never know one day we may all, or some of use, meet up
Dermot I agree with you..

I do try to make an effort to comment on people's work, but just lately, I have just plain "liked" quite a few. It takes ages to get through the weekend trawl and commenting, whilst cooking the Sunday roast can be a bit demanding, especially as the battery to my laptop is a bit duff. I frequently find that what I am going to say about a picture is exactly the same as what someone else has already said.
What really puzzles me is the number of positive comments rarely matches the "likes". I know that "Like" is a relatively recent addition, but I think that it is courteous to "Like" it if you make a positive comment.

I'm not sure who this 'merry band' is anyway but there are a bunch of regulars who continually support the forum, Syd would have been on my list of those supporters, not sure about myself but I try.
Unfortunately not enough members do bother to post any new topics or contribute to a thread, we have been through this before and a few of us have said that it's not clear enough on the gallery and that people don't know the forum exists... I do remember coming up with a simple possible solution, flag the forum up in a box on the gallery page, such wording as 'Have your say on who is the best living artist', join in the debate...etc etc...unfortunately it wasn't taken up, maybe Dawn could re-visit the idea again because I know that these 'teaser' ads do work in newspapers and should work on our format at POL.
