For my Christmas from my daughter and her husband i got a paints box which belonged to the late famous Scottish artist James McIntosh Patrick.It was bought at auction and my son in law was the successful bidder. I am very proud to,own the box and the artist was a tutor when I was in his evening class at Dundee art college. He did a painting of his studio and at the far lower left you can see the box lying open and my photo is taken with the studio print lying in the old paint smeared box. ...Syd

Magical Syd. No unwanted present there. I thnk my wife might have been having a word with my grandchildren about Christmas presents (which they insist on buying despite entreaties not to) . I got gift certificates from both this year for The Works, which of course I'll spend on pads and paints...Were I much younger (and being brought up in the wood trade; I was a patternmaker ) I'd be making a paintbox just like yours (and probably a Jane Austen lap-desk too).
